My very first question to you - Multichannel Sound Installation - 2014

The exhibition features a central sound installation with three experiemental scenes composed with audio material from Ruth Weiss’ audio archive: scenes of questions being asked, answered and avoided, voices being raised or lowered, memory and speech flowing and noise intercepting. The compositions invite reflection on the continued relevance of the political and moral claims at stake during the struggle for freedom and justice in Africa. The three experimental scenes are complemented by four audio stations with unedited interview excerpts, as well as photographs from Ruth Weiss’ archive.

Opening: June 27 2014 at the African liberation archive and September 7 2014 at the South African Jewish Museum in Capetown.
