Sound Installation - Art in Architecture 'Holli der Hof'
A sculpture with sonification of soil activities at the Holligerhof in Bern
The duo Rudolf Steiner and Barbara Meyer Cesta create artistic works together under the label Haus am Gern. Their work focuses on socially relevant issues, which they translate into context-specific pieces. For the Holligerhof in Bern, the two artists developed a sculpture that, through a soil microphone, makes the acoustic perspective of the earth layer surrounding the sculpture audible. The rod transmits signals from the ground via transducers to “ear pieces,” allowing the tiny organisms in the soil—who are likewise inhabitants of this settlement—to become perceptible and tangible through sound.
As a consultant, Idee und Klang was able to contribute to the conceptual and technical planning.
