Moral Machine - Interactive Installation - 2017
World Economic Forum WEF, Davos | Switzerland
The Moral Machine was an exhibit at the World Economic Forum 2017 in Davos, Switzerland, developed and designed by Dubai’s Museum of the Future, Dubai Future Foundation, and Tellart. Idee und Klang composed the generative sound design for the installation. The exhibit explores the role of super intelligent machines in global decision-making. Participants were asked to enter the machine exhibit set in 2050 and train the advanced technology learning algorithm to decide between various social and moral dilemmas. These dilemmas reflected the difficult decisions societies will have to make in the 21st century, in a way computer technology can comprehend.
“Visitors are transported into the mind of a hyper intelligent machine, as they enter an infinite grid of data processing columns. We created a fully immersive and transformative environment using a combination of LED walls, mirrored panels and audio. Interaction with one of three stations results in a dynamic audiovisual dialogue between man and machine; leaving our visitors with important questions to ask today in order to shape the future they envision.” Zaza Zuilhof, Lead Designer at Tellart.
