Paul Gauguin Exhibition - 2015

Fondation Beyeler Riehen

For the exhibition about Paul Gaugin's oeuvre at Fondation Beyeler, Idee und Klang Audio Design was commissioned by iart to produce interactive sounds, sound installations and audio guides. In the case of selected works, the audio guide accompanies the observing visitors with stories and musical contributions, encouraging personal discovery. As a new component of the educational service program, the audio guide for children gives also younger visitors an understanding of the artist and his oeuvre in a fun and entertaining way.

The multimedia room is one of the exhibition's highlights. Here, the visitors can browse through interactive books, developed by iart. These books are to be perceived as an amalgamation of a physically printed book, and a superimposed digital projection. They respond to touch, giving off a sound. For these books, Idee und Klang Audio Design have created tonal images and interaction sounds inspired by the exotic and paradisiac vision that Gaugin hoped to find on Tahiti. From the adjacent winter garden with sitting accommodation sounds are emanating, discreetly contributing to the multimedia room's South Pacific atmosphere and rounding off the exhibition's overall experience in a sensuous way.

Exhibition Period: February 8 – June 28, 2015
